How Will The Program Begin?

The program will begin when the UN reaches out to the all-girls boarding schools in Nairobi. In the first 2 years this will just include Narobi for private all girls schools. Then on year three the UN will start reaching out to public all girls boarding schools in Nairobi as well.

Once the UN is in contact with a school the mentorship impact hub will begin to be integrated into the school. Before starting the technology curriculum, business curriculum, and sub-program, each school must complete the following survey to understand the digital material needed in each school.

Also, the UN will contact the mentors—that have agreed to be mentors for our program—outlined here and arrange for a mentor to come in person to the session once a week on the same day every week. The technical mentor will walk through that week's curriculum content to the girls in the program.

Then, once the UN has the required numbers for the computers required and has delivered the computers to the school the students will complete a survey to access their level of digital literacy.

  1. If the survey results indicate that more than 20% of the participants do not know computer fundamentals the teacher will walk the girls through the computer fundamentals curriculum.
  2. If the participants know computer fundamentals the business curriculum and technology curriculum will begin at the same time and girls will be given a chance to sign up to the sub-program.

How Often Will It Run?

The program will run on weekdays from 4p.m to 6p.m for 1-2 hours sessions. On weekends the program will run from 10a.m to 11a.m.

Who Will Run The Program?

The technical mentors assigned to the school will come in once a week on a reoccurring week day to walk the girls that show up to that session through the business curriculum and technology curriculum for that week of the program. The technical mentor will also be there to answer any questions the girls may have.

On the other 6 days of the program, there will be open hours for the program where girls can drop in and follow the business curriculum and technology curriculum at their own pace. A teacher supervisor will be watching over the girls during these open hours.
